[Gllug] Student event/Meeting?

i want to organise a student centred Linux event on the afternoon of 2nd 
october, as part of our freshers week. it would be nice to show how Linux 
can provide a platform for our students, both for academic work and fun.

i am looking for people to provide demos in the lab and also to give some 
introduction to linux talks.

there is some money available to support freshers events but i've not been 
told what is allocated to this yet.

any company goodies to give out would be good too.

also, would there be any interest in having a normal gllug meeting in the 
evening? partly to let students come along to that and also to try to get 
a rough plan in place for the next 12 months.
