Only reason why I am looking at the charity angle [1] is so that
donations to the project come with some form of benefit to the donor.
Based on the info that I've been able to come up with, a CIC would be
unable to do that.
On the flip side - we are still chasing the SPI / Conservancy umbrellas
to see how we could do this with them, however its increasigly looking
like the ecosystem is ready for atleast another few umbrellas. And
atleast > 1 based in the EU [2].
Given the number of projects
[1]: As Caroline already pointed out, justification for being a charity
might be hard.
[2]: Not that I mean to imply that the UK is a part of the EU... so
perhaps a UK based on and another in the EU.
