This is yet another example of the 'fashion' of requesting apologies from
Governments for wrongs done years ago by our ancestors.

By the same logic maybe I should be apologizing to someone for some wrong
done by my grandfather?

Expressing regret/sympathy for past wrongs is one thing.  Apologizing is
another thing entirely.

This history of mankind is full of awful wrongs  - we could on that basis
spend the rest of our lives aplogizing!
