There are generally two types of Wireless router.
An ADSL type, and a Cable Modem type.
The ADSL type have a ADSL modem inside them.
The Cable Modem type have a RJ45 UTP connection because the Cable
modem presents RJ45 UTP.
You probably just accidentally brought the wrong type.
The OpenWRT should work with both types.
