Saffron Digital Ltd. is a successful mobile and web based media company with an impressive track record of delivery into all the largest mobile operators in the UK. entertainment and e-CRM agency. Our clients include T-Mobile, O2, Vodafone, Motorola, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, IPC Media, Paramount Pictures, Warner Brothers, Disney Universal, Sony Pictures amongst many others. Saffron is a dynamic young company, professional with very high standards. We are looking to recruit someone that can join our team, ideally already working in a similar environment, although this is not a pre-requisite. This is new web development role, and as such you will have the opportunity to grow within this area of our business.

The Role:
We are seeking a motivated Web Developer to join our rapidly growing team. You will be working on leading edge projects in specialist areas with significant opportunity for professional growth.  This is not a 'normal' development position.

All applicants must have:
 - a genuine interest in technology and the ability to learn quickly
 - a capacity from problem solving in web and related systems (UI through backend, architecture, business processes)
 - knowledge of either PHP or perl
 - good understanding of web related technologies (HTML, HTTP, CSS, JS)

The 'ideal' applicant will also possess some of the following:
 - professional experience in the area (this is not a requirement)
 - very strong PHP or Perl skills (both is a plus!)
 - significant exposure to at least one additional language (ruby highly valued)
 - a solid understanding of the UNIX environment (particularly Linux/FreeBSD)
 - basic knowledge of related security concepts (cryptography, digital rights management (DRM), web-based attack vectors such as XSS, SQL injection, etc.)
 - an interest in emerging mobile technologies and protocols
 - SQL skills and an understanding of alternative storage mechanisms (memcache, etc.)
 - some understanding of LAMP performance tuning
 - a broad understanding of digital audio, video and still image compression techniques, including knowledge of related commercial and open source software
 - experience working with revision control systems (subversion preferred)
 - basic understanding of issues surrounding i18n / l10n
 - understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite, in particular HTTP
