Is that exactly as you see the complete message?

It seems like a line to indicate the end of the attachment is missing.

I was able to extract the first two parts of the mulitpart MIME
attachment (a bit of text and a bit of HTML) but the script I used
does not see the part of the word document.

I added a boundary manually at the end of the file (the string:
"------=_NextPart_000_022C_01C992E1.08A15EE0" ) and then the last part
was recognized. If you had this I think you email client should be
able to decode the word attachment.

I would check first if your messages are not being truncated at either end.

To check in the side of the sender he can CC himself and check how the
message is being handled locally, if the copy to self is OK then you
would need to check the  receiving side of things, either your local
mail processing is doing some unusual post-processing  (you email
wizards should be able to compare messages as they arrive against how
they reach your mailbox).

Another possibility is that you email client could be broken,  have
you tried accessing your email with a different program.
