Welcome to Shepherd's Bush!
(from one who also moved from Fulham - could I possibly be described as
a trend-setter?)
It's hard to say that the area has a single 'character' - there are some
parts which are quite 'gentry' and others which are the absolute pits!
I'm also 'looking around' and am thinking of that work-permitting I'd
like to stay in the ShepBush-Acton-Ealing 'corridor'.
The transport links here are much improved, particularly now that
they've finished mucking about with the White Elephant and Castle,
sorry, West Field Shopping Center; and the re-opening of the ShepBush
mainline station has given us easy access to Gatwick, Brighton, etc in
the south and Birmingham in the north.
(did I really use the words "access" and "Brum" in the same sentence?)
Sorry to advise, but regarding your helpful budgeting you should allow
for Council Tax, which even with the London Borough of Hammersmith and
Fulham's copious boasting and self-publicity on the matter will still
halve your projected savings - probably noticeably lower than the same
in Fulham though! Perhaps a likely over-estimation of power utilities
costs will slightly offset?
Regards,
