There is a serious point here.  Unicode has double-width (Japanese)
numerals and [Roman] letters.  If you are typing something in
Japanese, then just tab to a field which expects a number or some
English text, it's easy to accidentally enter them, because Japanese
input is modal and you're in the wrong mode.

Examples from a website I run below.

This is a huge pain for website developers, and non-Japanese
developers frequently overlook it.
