We've had good success with http://www.fields-data-recovery.co.uk/ in 
the past. Including heat damaged drives (aircon fail) and dropped laptops.

One word of advice for the future though - once you realise it's 
damaged. STOP. The type of recoveries you've tried may have caused more 
damage by stressing an already very unhappy piece of machinery. If the 
data is at all valuable, you'll be much better off sending it away 
immediately rather than trying your own remedies.

Good luck. It's a horrible feeling when you realise the backup's out of 
date and it really isn't going to boot properly :-(
