Job Title: Linux Systems Administrator - Global Radio
Location: Central London (Leicester Square)
Reports To: Head of Systems and Quality
Salary: 25-30K
Responsibilities
- Work with the Systems Administrator to help build and maintain the
hardware infrastructure of all Global Radio web sites.
- Assist with the stability, monitoring, and backups of all Global Radio
web sites.
- Capacity Planning for all web sites.
- Ensure that all Global Radio web sites are resilient through Business
Continuity Planning.
- Assist with product releases to production servers.
- DNS management.
- Work with developers on a number of topics including to fix issues, plan
releases and manage capacity.
- Keep up to date on new technologies and versions to help us to take
advantage of any new features that are available.
Required Skills and Experience
- Debian GNU/Linux
- Scripting Language e.g. Perl / Python / Shell.
- Experience working with SQL and RDBMS, especially MySQL.
- Knowledge of VCS, especially SVN.
- Experience of release management and deployment tools.
- Knowledge of Puppet or other provisioning systems.
- Experience working with Microsoft Windows Server is desirable but not
essential.
- Experience with the set up and management of monitoring for live sites.
- Experience with ensuring that hardware infrastructure can handle expected
peaks and troughs and can be scaled up when necessary.
- Business Continuity Planning
- Experience implementing effective load balancing and replication
strategies.
- DNS management.
- Be able to work under pressure and work to deadlines.
