TBH the number of people who I respect and who disagree with me on
this is making me reassess my position.

I'd appreciate feedback from RHEL licensees who've reported bugs to RH
support and had them resolved by backporting upstream fixes. In my
eyes this is a fragile process. I distrust it. Richard Jones argued
eloquently (if perhaps with bias) that RH have ISO-standard quality
control processes and provide a serious and stable bed to deploy in
production. I'm interested to know how others view this process as
consumers of it.

I think it would be interesting too to know whether RHEL-admins find
that they / their developers are often requesting packages which
aren't distributed by RH. Out of interest, if you download material
from EPEL, do RH continue to support the machine?
