I think that it is bi-annual. A few years ago I asked nominet if I could
pay them #100 as a one off fee and be registered in perpituity. The #100 would
have (at rates of interest then available) have paid them more than #6
every 2 years.
They said that it was an interesting idea but that they did not have such a
scheme -- pity.
