I have used GoDaddy in the past, who offer SSH access on all their
hosting accounts. I now use FSCKVPS, which offer's cheap VPS's (about a
fiver a month). On Sunday evening, someone hacked in via LXLabs HyperVM
and ran rm -rf /. They've got everything pretty much under control now,
and my server was restored Monday afternoon, but you may want to wait a
couple of weeks/months before placing a new order. The story even made
it to the front page of Slashdot (probably because the author of HyperVM
hanged himself.
