I can't deny that, but really, how often do you actually need to touch that
file? For a typical system, the installer gets it right and you need not
care what's in it.
If you want to point and laugh, how about the nonsense in /etc/udev/rules.d
that "helpfully" renames your primary network interface if you replace a
faulty NIC?
