I was with Virgin in a flat for a year about two years ago.
It was awful.
I don't recall ever getting anywhere near the advertised speed,
throttling started at some incredibly low threshold and there seemed to
be continual 'maintenance' on our line or something it depended upon,
none of which was ever on their fault report line, you always had to
phone up and get told about it.
They were an awful company to deal with - the only time I can recall
ringing a helpdesk not only staffed entirely by the clueless, but
seemingly without even a flow chart of questions to follow. *every*
issue required being put on hold only for him to come back and ask me to
ping somewhere.
The flat I'm in now didn't have a BT line either, been very impressed
with Be since June. Had to talk to them twice about bill payment (my
fault), and each time they were flawless. No issues with bandwidth or
downtime, either.
