First and foremost do not reply to any initial contact stating that you
want to sell the domain. Instead reply that you registered the domain
for a particular purpose (a project or business for example) and that
you had not considered selling the domain.

This is important as if you reply with a price or indicate in any way
that you want to sell it they might simply seek to grab the domain by
way of whatever process the registry has in place to allow this in the
case of cybersquatting or abusive domain registrations.

Then you can go on to state that your project/business has not yet
entirely committed to the domain branding publicly and that you could be
willing to consider an offer - ie leave the door open for them to
pursue.

If they are willing to pay a reasonable amount rather than just hoping
that you'll sell it for a couple of quid they will probably get back to
you to start negotiating for the domain name.
