That's not the problem. You can always fix the applications to not
require bizarre user interface combinations. Touch-screen PDAs work
just fine, for example.
The real reason we won't have touch-screens on full desktop computers
is called "gorilla arm". After a while of poking at a vertical surface
a few feet away, your arm starts to hurt and feel heavy.
