It's pretty rare to be able to use the phone to share its 3G internet  
connection via Wifi, i.e. with the phone acting as a router/AP. You  
*can* get 3rd-party apps for some smartphones to do this though. I  
believe wifi is more commonly used to give the phone internet access.

That is, Bluetooth is usually used to get a data connection between  
phone and laptop, while wifi is commonly used to make the connection  
between phone and home/office internet connection.

Did that make any sense?
