Bingo. Thanks! OK, accessing the dynamode adsl router box shows stuff
flowing out over eth0 (the green port) and in via eth2 (the red port) to
which the adsl modem is attached, and shows that it is happening from
what I interpret of the message on port 80. So I suspect that confirms
that the IPcop box isn't at fault (oui??) but the problem lies either
with the dynamode router or the ISP (Phone Coop). Valid assumptions to
proceeed with?

PS why didn't a recursive ls -R show the location of tcpdump any ideas?
