When you type ifconfig in a terminal do you have an IP address?

Can you receive email? Can you enter a web address into the Firefox

location bar, hit enter and get the page displayed? Either will show

whether you have a working connection to the 'net.

In my experience, WICD is very reliable, and shouldn't tell fibs!

I don't think I have a working connection to the net as I cannot receive email nor able to get the page displayed after entering an address in Firefox.

In the wicd , my connection is still shown at 80% wpa in the box. I have noticed the connection % shown at the bottom frame is different to the one displayed in the box.
