How does that make any difference whatsoever? If you're required to  
use microsoft software (and generally you are, worse, generally a  
small portion of your fees is going on the MSDNAA program), you're  
required to use it.

Because they don't slap a microsoft badge on it and call you an MCSE  
afterwards makes little difference.

I'm currently enjoying a laugh that a friend of mine studying 'secure  
and forensic computing' has done a ruby on rails project. Aside from  
the obvious bollocks that he might possibly one day want a simple web  
interface for forensicking (or similar word that makes sense) things,  
rails is another fad that will blow over when people finally realise  
how hard it is to scale and finally get to trying to write software  
properly.
