Almost always, yes. Since they bought Maxtor, they've been putting
out drives under the Seagate brand that haven't had the quality you'd
normally associate with Seagate. The warranty period has dropped from
5 years to 3 years, too, which indicates they know about the change
in quality, and have made a business decision to run with it. But they
are probably still better than most of the alternatives, and since the
difference in price is fairly negligible, I'd go with the Seagate.
