I've used a few - Linux support is pretty good. The new ones are a bit
annoying because they often come with a build in pendrive for their windows
driver software and also an sdcard reader. You need to use the
usb_modeswitch utility to switch the device from one capability to the other
(ie: from card reader to internal drive to usb modem). This isn't really a
big deal though and ubuntu actually does it automatically.

The modems I've used are:

Huawei E220 - works perfectly. no internal storage or card reader so no need
to modeswitch.
ZTE MF622 - works perfeclty. does require usb_modeswitch though.
