Very well made comment.
My "beef" with Lustre always was about where the ultimate source of
support would come from - as you say Oracle are now seeing it as
another product in their stable.
The US National Labs are sufficiently worried about this to have
forked off a new project - OpenSFS

A similar thing is happening in the Gridengine world - despite
assurances about the long term future of Gridengine, again the
community have started a fork.
