Canon steadfastly refuse to acknowledge the existence of anything other
than Windows. They actively discourage the writers of Linux printer
drivers from supporting their products.

I had two of their MFP jobs in the past (one for me, and one for my
Dad), and both developed faults roughly 15 months after purchase. I
tried to get after-sales support on the things, but they claimed (of
course) that the third-party printer drivers we had to use had damaged
their hardware...

I will not buy any other Canon products - printers, scanners, cameras or
anything else. They have some ostensibly good products, but their
attitude towards Linux has lost them many customers.

Conversely, HP actively support Linux, and their products are pretty
good, too.

C.
