[Gllug] Requesting a graceful halt for a sleeping package

Hello,
I have a problem with ftpsync (ftp.debian.org/debian/project/ftpsync)
apparently going to sleep with no timeout. Most of the time it works without
any problem, but it occasionally fails to finish and appears to hang. I
think the problem occurs when my ADSL link breaks up and resets, and the
ftpsync process sticks. It should get the file list, rsync the archive, then
re-check the file list before doing a clean up and stop.
If I run ftpsync by calling it direct and it stops I can wait days
without anything happening, and nothing showing using "top". If I then press
^C it appears to do a graceful halt, cleans up the logfiles, removes the
"Archive Update in Progress" lockfile, and stops.
I normally run ftpsync from crontab, and it usually completes OK. When it
does hang, the log file usually shows that the rsync has been run but the
sequence stops at the check "receiving file list". If I then try to run
ftpsync manually it will report that it is already running and shows a PID.
If I kill that PID the ftpsync appears to stop dead without cleaning up, and
will not re-start even if I attempt to clean up manually.
Any suggestions please?
