[Gllug] Dependency software / make?

Hiya,

I'm at the start of looking at solutions for a client who have a number of
machines with various webservices &
mail services running ( ~70 real/VMs ) across 3 data centers and the current
dependency tree is largely in
people's heads so the sort of questions like "if we shutdown rack4 or
machine fooserver , which clients
will affected?" are usually answered by digging into machines &
documentation.

Do folks know of any FOSS that'll do this? I'm also interested to know if a
simple make file could help
answer the above question - if so, what would it look like?
