Well, since you have identified me[1], and are misrepresenting me as
having quoted for the job, I'll respond to that in public too:

No, I did not quote for the job -- what I wrote in the one email that
I've written to you in private, in the paragraph just before the mention
of my daily rates, was:

  As it stands, I would not be willing to work with you, because until
  you demonstrate that you know what you want done, there is no chance
  that you will be satisfied with whatever I end up doing for you.

I don't think there's much room for misinterpretation there.

The email (which I'll attach here to avoid any accusations that I'm
quoting selectively) was supposed to be friendly advice about how to
modify your approach in order to get something useful out of this.

Oh well.

I wish anyone else trying to be helpful here the best of luck.
