They are some. This external drive bay uses eSATA and comes in 5 bay
or 8 bay models for 167 or 216 GBP (inc VAT):

It can use it's own RAID system or mdadm, but the 5 bay model I tested
had a bottleneck of 120MByte/s (1Gbit/s) which may be either the cable
or the PCIe SATA port multiplier card that comes with it.
