There are two options.
The best option 1:
First BT socket in house -> ADSL Filter -> One to ADSL modem, Other to
a phone line splitter/extension.
Plug all other phones onto the end of the extension.

Not so good Option 2:
First BT socket in house -> second BT socket in house -> third BT
socket in house.
You then need to plug a ADSL filter into every BT socket in the house
before plugging in any telephones.

In reality, option 2 should not happen. You should have a single first
BT socket, and then you should be plugging extentions into the first
socket, so that all secondary sockets can be easily disconnected for
fault finding purposes.
