I have cloned many a unix box, by just taring up all the files and 
extracting them on a new harddrive, of course with lvm, I can just 
PVmove partitions arround, the tricky part in cloning however is if you 
need custom drivers in the initrd, and rembering what the commands are 
to install grub.
