The PS3 will play all UK Freeview recordings from MythTV very well, it gives great picture quality, one of the best media players for quality if not compatibility.

However be warned it won't currently play any BBC HD recordings, some encoder settings that the BBC changed a few months ago broke PS3 capability and Sony haven't fixed it yet.
