For even better geek-fu, try cloning a system over the network.
Boot the target system via PXE into a ramdisk, or use a Knoppix CD.
Format fresh new drives to taste, and add the magic ingredient of
'netcat' listening on a flavoursome port,
piping your hot data to the fresh partition.
Log into the old system and send the data via netcat.
