It'd be this...
$ ifconfig
eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 8E:30:4D:34:6F:DE

which then changes to:
$ ifconfig
eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 9E:8F:2E:02:71:B7

after a reboot.

Mick, can we see the output of lspci and any network stuff in
/var/log/dmesg ?
