Which of the (many) possible 3-ware cards is it? (whole series of them 
use the same driver, 7 and 8 very different beasts)

Also, there is AFAIAA no possible way to use a 3-ware card as simple 
interface, be it IDE or SATA

Older 3-Ware SATA cards had poor performance, I'm seeing high speeds on 
current production.
