[Gllug] Loss of Trackpad

After a recent kernel (etc) update my ThinkPad's TrackPad stopped 
working (TrackPoint continues happily).

Have failed to find any way to turn it back on again, eg GPointing 
Device Settings. Thinkwiki's entries seem out-dated.

Any ideas please?
