I should have clarified here that I use Gandi *only* for their DNS 
registration business, so I cannot vouch for their hosting. If their DNS 
is anything to go by, then I'm sure that using them for VPS hosting will 
be a good experience.

Over here in the UK I have direct experience in dealing with Bitfolk [1] 
and Bytemark [2]. Check them both out, IMHO they are excellent 
companies, and a pleasure to do business with.
