I am upstream developer of Xiphos and package it for Debian and Ubuntu.
At the moment the latest version of Xiphos is available from Debian
stable, testing & unstable.
So there is no need to add any repositories to install latest Xiphos on Debian.
Simple:
$ sudo apt-get install xiphos

Should work, if you have internet connectivity. Debian does ship _all_
software on DVDs but it might not have made it on to the first one,
you may check the package listings if you install from DVDs, or simply
download the relevant packages manually and then install them offline.
All dependencies and debs are browsable & downloadable from
http://packages.debian.org/xiphos

Regards,

Dmitrijs.
