[GLLUG] Hard Drive recommendations

Heh - I was just about to post that link :-). FWIW, I've been running a NAS with 4tb Hitachi deskstar drives for a while now. The Ultrastar ones are a bit expensive, and the backblaze post strongly suggests that "green" drives suffer from reduced reliability.
