Miroslav here,

Why would not you try latest Knoppix on it first?
Knoppix has all the non-free drivers you'll need.

 Dell Alienware 17 - anyone installed/used
 this with Linux?

Need a 17 inch laptop with high res.
 This model's display quality is
 remarked on in reviews.

Anyone installed and run Linux on one
of these? They have an nVidia
video chipset, so that's OK. But what
 about Wifi driver availability?
 Sound chip?

Bios for booting other OS - can disable
 Secure boot? Any other things
people can see which would prevent dual
 booting?

Any help welcome - then I'll go back to
 lurking 'cos don't have enough
 technical nouse to saying anything
 useful here...
 Malcolm
