[GLLUG] Forcing login screen

As promised - some more details.....

   - ping to (eg) www.google.com
   - No https: website works
   - I want to force either Chromium or Firefox to get me to log on.
   - *It could be the "server" that is meant to be putting the logon
   (excuse my terminology) is "on holiday"*

A few years ago I would force the logon by going to a known HTTP (not
HTTPS) site but this is harder nowadays. Most sites divert to HTTPS
straight away.
