Hi,
It is sometimes safer to set up a separate location for file sharing
that is not in your home directory tree. This is because you need to
then give people access to read your home folder, in order to read the
Public folder within it.
Maybe /home/shared
and then use SMB/CIFS/NFS to share it.
You will have a safer set of permissions you can set on it.
That being said, including the output of what John W asks for will
probably help solve your problem.
