After the meeting: (my spellchecker doesn't work, pls ignore any typos)

Please _do_ comment on the points if you want to.

* (minor) Favicon has been added, Konqueror now shows me a small tux in
my browser, it can be changed sometime. (just got Pauls email - if
anyone wants to change this logo at any time then go for it, its just a
bog standard Tux at the moment)

* We talked about a local business's page, I think the general idea was
to have a list of local Linux consultants but I wanted to make sure we
got quite a few names at once, rather than have just a couple of
businesses getting all the publicity. The suggestion was the company
details and then a paragraph on each, may I suggest no over the top
marketing speel?

If anyone wants to comment on this do, I know a lot of Linux involves
being free from commercial interests but one of the points of the LUG is
to promote Linux in the area. By providing a list of local Linux
consultants I hope it will be a useful resource to companies needing
Linux support and hence promote it's use. By providing a long list no
company is getting preferential treatment (the order on the page of the
companies can be changed at random).

Please say if you have any misgivings. To ensure fairness I was going to
suggest that the page won't be put up until we have at least 10
companies details.

You can submit details publicly at this link: (which I would prefer)
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=724194&forum_id=204655
although you will need to login to SourceForge to do it. Or email
myself. I'd suggest not sending it to the mailing list.

* Mike Brooks may be working on the help articles this week or two so if
you have any comments or urls to add to the articles, post it to the
list, or if you're shy, to Mike. It would be good to get extra content
up so please make suggestions for additions to the articles.

You may have noticed all the references to the web developers as
"Francis and Guy" on the website have changed to a link to the
SourceForge developers listing, as Mikes been helping out for a while
now. I know I've missed at least one reference though. This will be
fixed tomorrow.

* (minor) There were some very minor issues with IE and the site found
at the meeting, some of these are now fixed, but if anyone has any other
errors come up, no matter how minor, you can submit it on the list or
at:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=60709&atid=495037
In the meantime I sugest you IE users download a proper browser ;-)
(and maybe an OS to go with it :-)

* Netscape 4.6
Netscape has serious problems with CSS. The current site works with and
without browser CSS on, but NN4.6 completly mangles it. We've been
crafty and got the site working with 4.7 by hiding certain CSS from it
but I'm going to say that we probably cant support this older version on
the main site.

We could provide a link to a text only version of the site, although
will someone who sees a mangled site bother to click on the link?
Browser redirection according to its version is a nightmare too, so I'm
not sure thats an answer.
--tech----
all it would require to make a text version is an extra header and end
file (textheader.inc?) and a link on the menu of the main site. I'll do
this next week unless someone wants to have a go?

* "The fonts on the site look too big/small"
The fonts are relative to each other. Your browsers default font size
sets the size of the text, so if it's too big, go to your browser
preferences and make it smaller. Likewise, if you're partially sighted,
wack them right up. This is deliberate and inline with the W3C
recommendations and current thinking.

* There's tonnes of tasks laid out at
http://sourceforge.net/pm/?group_id=60709 plus lots of smaller ones not
listed, so if you want to practice you html, xhtml, css, php or
whatever, you can.

I'll be busy over the next week but hope to be working on a bit of
styling for the site and making a slightly wierd article about Mountain
Biking and Linux, as there's quite a bit to write about, and of course
it's different and not been done elsewhere.

laters...
