Just to add some info:

I went to Hemplan Design Limited the place that was mentioned just now
for cheap second hand pc's as firewalls, I mentioned I was after just a
pc for a firewall and he pointed me to the pile of P75's and P100's.

The Pentium 100's are going for =A35 +vat and will be ready on Monday
(they're wiping the hard drives first) as someone bought 10 yesterday
and cleaned them out. They're 16Mb ram and 1.2Gb HDD.

If you want to practice with a seperate (mail/apache/samba/nfs/halflife
..etc) server you could spend just =A35 or buy two, make a software RAID
out of the two hard drives (for practice) and double the ram. They're in
desktop format so you can pretend to have a rack of servers if you're
strange.

The Pentium 75's were =A32 !! 16mb RAM 800mb HDD, he has some sticks of
ram for a few quid as you'll probably need 32mb if you're a Smoothwall
freak like me, otherwise perfect.

The 3com 10/100 cards are actually HP cards which the man said uses the
3com chipset. I haven't had a chance to check them to see what Linux
detects them as but they were only =A32 each and I don't doubt he's right.
I bought 3. Serials for anyone interested say HP J2585B. =20
