[Gloucs] rpm and SuSe

I am running SuSE 8.2 with KDE 3.1.1 and OpenOffice 1.0.1. The December Linux 
magazine cover disk has KDE 3.1.4 noarch rpms and OpenOffice 1.1 ditto.

The CD mounts the file on my system as 
;/media/cdrecorder/aa/bb/cc/dd/ee/noarch/kde****noarch.rpm

After logging on as root what do I do? If I change to ***/noarch and rpm -Uvh 
the file nothing seems to happen. I get no error messages. can anyone point 
me in the correct direction?
