[Gloucs] Gloucs] Kernel recompile (oh dear)

Guy Edwards gloucs at mailman.lug.org.uk
Sun Feb 9 01:59:00 2003

well.... I rebuilt the kernel.....

I now have a very secure box. When I boot into the new kernel I've built
it wont let me use the network at all.

I'm told on boot that /dev/pts doesn't exist at least twice and later
that module ip_tables can't be found, which doesn't surprise me as I
thought I'd said yes to putting it into the kernel rather than having it
load as a module.

Isn't /dev/pts rather important? I can still startx fine but the
networks down.... I've stuck some stuff below that might help (lsmod and
dmesg output)

...any ideas as to what I did wrong?

Guy
