Hiya LUGgers
Just received this through from Jono Bacon. I think it sounds good, and
further to recent mailings about charities and Linux I think this is an
area we could probably major on as a LUG.
Thoughts?
Anyone know any charities which might be ripe for this sort of advocacy?
Francis.

Hi all,
I have recently released a project on my website
called the Free Software Charities Register. The aim
of the project is to create a web based database of
case studies where charities are using free software
to help them save money.
I have also backed this project up with a
comprehensive document discussing how Linux can help
charities.
These resources are at:
http://www.jonobacon.org/projects/charitiesregister/
Although these resources are online, I could do with
the help of the UK LUG community to fill the register
up, and get some more charities using Linux. I ask for
your help in two ways:
- First, could you let any charities that you know to
add their details to the register. If they dont want
to , you can get their information and add them with
their permission.
- Second, send the document I have written; Linux For
Charities out to new charities to help them change
over to Linux.
If we make use of the UK network of LUGs, we can make
quite a difference.
Cheers,
Jono
