Hello all,
Firstly, thanks to Guy for coming round and picking up the duplicator, I've
spent all of
last week falling over it in my hall! I hope it does sterling service for
you all, it certainly
did for me. The long story of it is that it was reasonably new when I
joined HESA 5 years
ago, and it's been my responsibility for keeping her going these past
years. The great thing
about it that it uses all PC standard components - AT PSU, standard fans,
drives and the like,
although I've been told it's quite fussy about having yamaha writers and
quantum HDs.
It was due to be thrown out, because it's been replaced by a printer /
robot arm duplicator,
but I didn't spend all those years tending to it to just skip the poor
thing. ;)
We did try to get some more writers for it a while ago, but came up empty,
although we wanted
new drives - maybe eBay would be a good place to look. Even though they're
only quad speed,
because it does 4 simultaneously, you can soon rack up hefty amounts of CDs!
All I can say is dont loose those CD caddies, we had a hell of a time
finding spares!
All the best,
Andy
PS : Please excuse this email coming from Windows2000, I'm currently in the
process of
choosing a distro for a new PC. By the looks of it, it'll probably be
Mandrake (even though
slashdot seem to hate it!)
