[Gloucs] Ubuntu XP dual boot

Hi,

just to update you. I have now got the dual boot up and running. I
actually spent about two weeks on this (I had never booted an operating
system before let alone dual booted one) and although I might be a bit
slow on the uptake I do feel that this is a huge barrier to people
migrating to Linux. If I wasn't basically out of a job I would never
have had time to do this.

I eventually found a very well written set of instructions (specifically
for installing Ubuntu alongside windows on machines with one hard disk
taken up with a single windows partition formatted with either fat32 or
ntfs) which is presumably a very common situation. It was written by
some one who had gone through a similar experience and felt similarly to
me about it all.

I just checked that site
(http://ca.geocities.com/zachandloricox@rogers.com/ubuntu/ubuntu.html)
and it has 'exceeded its allocated data transfer' which I take to mean
it is very popular but sadly doesn't have enough band width for the
current demand.

The reason I mention all this is because I feel there is a real need to
support non-techie people through this dual boot process and despite it
being quite easy with the correct instructions, those instructions are
not available (at least in a findable form) on the main Fedora and
Ubuntu web sites.

Thanks again for your previous help over this matter and let us hope we
can recruit more people to Linux.

Best wishes from Steve Greig
