I have just made the change from KDE3.5 to Gnome (in order to avoid KDE4) and notice an appreciable increase in speed. Is this to be expected ? The machine is an old AMD Athlon running at 1400 MHz with 1GB RAM with Debian "Lenny". I am now ready for "Squeeze" when it is released. Geoff
